Utility undergrounding work began Tuesday, January 6, in the Golden Shores neighborhood. As crews convert overhead utilities to underground service, residents may experience brief, temporary power outages between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The Sunny Isles Beach Residents’ Academy is a 7-session course that will introduce residents to the operations of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. The Academy will explain the policy process, public service delivery and describe how our local government addresses some of its most challenging issues.
The Academy provides participants with the information, resources, and tools they need to become knowledgeable community members and effective neighborhood leaders. These structured courses will build upon your knowledge of public administration and provide a foundation in local government operations. Course sessions include instruction, conversations, observations, and hands-on activities demonstrating the variety of city services that are provided to residents. Upon completion of this course, participants will:

Participants must be 17+ and live in Sunny Isles Beach. Residents' Academy is FREE, but registration is required. Priority registration will be given to residents who have not taken the course in the past.
This year, we have five spots available for high school students who can earn 25 community service hours for participation. Must attend at least 5 classes to receive credit. Parents must have a valid Sunny Isles Beach Resident ID card in order for student to participate.
