Film Permits

Film permits are required for individuals wishing to conduct commercial photography on public and/or private property.

If your production will film within the City of Sunny Isles Beach you may apply for a film permit online by using the below Sunny Isles Beach Film Permit Application. Please allow up to three business days for film permit applications to be reviewed and note that film permits will not be issued on the weekends or after hours.

In addition to completing the film permit application, the following are required:

  • Film permit application fee of $100 (this fee may be paid in-person or mailed: Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, 3rd Floor, 18070 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, FL)

  • Commercial Photography and Filming Indemnity and Hold Harmless Agreement (PDF, 180KB) (This form must be completed and turned in or mailed with the Film Permit Application fee.)

  • All applicants must include evidence of public liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1,000,000.00 and name the City of Sunny Isles Beach as additional insured.

  • For commercial photography conducted on private property, the property owner’s written approval is required.

  • For drone footage, applicant must provide the drone registration with the Federal Aviation Administration and a copy of the airman certification with the US Department of Transportation. 

For all regulations on commercial photography, please refer to Chapter 232 Commercial Photography. The City Manager or designee may immediately revoke any film permit for violation of any part of this Chapter or anypermitcondition. Any person who violates the provisions of this Chapter shall be subject to penalties.

Once approved, film permits must be maintained at the site on which the production occurs and must be presented upon the request of any police officer or code compliance officer of the City.
