Proposed FY 2026/2027 Budget: Investing in Public Safety & Our Future

I am pleased to share that we are nearing completion of our proposed Fiscal Year 2026/2027 Comprehensive Annual Budget. This budget reflects our commitment to protecting the services residents value most while remaining responsible stewards of your tax dollars.

I am especially proud that this proposed budget reduces the City's operating millage rate to the rollback rate of 1.6514. If adopted, Sunny Isles Beach will continue to have the lowest municipal millage rate in Miami-Dade County. This demonstrates that careful planning and responsible budgeting can deliver outstanding city services without placing an unnecessary burden on taxpayers.

One of my guiding principles has always been that government should spend wisely. Every budget request is carefully reviewed to ensure it serves a clear purpose and provides value to our community. We do not spend simply because funds are available. Instead, we prioritize investments that improve the quality of life for our residents while preserving the City's long-term financial stability.

Public safety remains our highest priority. This budget fully supports our Police Department and Ocean Rescue Division, providing personnel, equipment, training, and technology needed to keep our community safe. It also includes additional police officers to strengthen public safety services and enhance our ability to respond quickly.

Beyond public safety, we continue to invest in our parks, infrastructure, public facilities, and city services that residents rely on every day, always with a careful eye toward long-term value and responsible spending.
