The City of Sunny Isles Beach has been recognized as the recipient of the 2026 Florida Local Government Information Systems Association (FLGISA) Technology Excellence Award for Innovative Use of Technology to Serve the Public. This award recognizes the City’s pioneering Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, which tightly integrates Skydio’s autonomous drone platform with CentralSquare’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to deliver faster, smarter, and safer public safety services to the community. This achievement is the result of the teamwork of our Police Department, Innovation & Technology Department, and Media Division who came together to find a creative solution to an operational challenge—helping to deploy our drones faster and more reliably to better serve our residents.
