Celebrating Progress, Gratitude, and Community in Sunny Isles Beach
Published on November 03, 2025
November is a month that embodies gratitude, and here in Sunny Isles Beach, we have so much to be thankful for. As we reflect on the past year, I am grateful for our continued efforts to improve the quality of life for all our residents and for initiatives that make our community stronger and more vibrant.
This year marked the launch of our inaugural Poetry in the Park event and our first Adaptive Beach Day. Both programs were my initiatives and intended to foster inclusivity and creativity within our community, enriching the lives of residents and visitors alike. After years of grappling with how to best serve our teens, in January Sunny Isles Beach was proud to open The Spot, which is a wonderfully equipped space that is free for teens to use as long as they are respectful of it. Moreover, I am grateful for the successful rollout of our police drones, which have already garnered attention in the news for their impact on safety and community engagement. Finally, after introducing the idea of a local Police Athletic League back in October of 2020, and after extensive planning and legal adjustments in conjunction with the City of Aventura, we will soon introduce the Intracoastal Police Athletic League. We have so much to be proud of and look forward to as we continue to build a community where all can feel safe and included.
Taking a moment to think beyond our city programs, at October’s Commission meeting I had the honor of presenting a proclamation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. Highlighting the increase in survival rates reminds us of the progress we are making in this fight—an achievement worth celebrating and for which I am grateful. Lastly, as November unfolds, we also take time to express our profound appreciation for veterans, particularly the hundreds who reside in Sunny Isles Beach. Your service and sacrifices are deeply valued—thank you for all you do. In this season of gratitude, let’s cherish our community and the progress we continue to make together.
