S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue Roadway Improvement Project

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway improvement project on June 30, 2026, along State Road (S.R.) A1A/Collins Avenue from south of S.R. 826/NE 163 Street to north of NE 178 Street. The project is estimated to last approximately six months.

The scope of work for this project includes, upgrading vehicular and pedestrian signals, signage, pavement markings, curb ramps, new detectable warning surfaces, upgrading traffic signal timing at all intersections, installing bicycle signalization on the east and west sides of S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue, and repaving and restriping the road.

To complete this project safely, lane and sidewalk closures will be necessary and will occur only during non-peak hours or on non-event days and weekends.

What to Expect
  • Northbound S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue: Single lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.; double lane closures from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
  • Southbound S.R. A1A/Collins Avenue: Single lane closures from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.; double lane closures from 12:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
  • Eastbound S.R. 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard: Single lane closures from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.; double lane closures from 11:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Drivers may experience delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible. Please use caution when traveling through the construction zone. Detours will be clearly marked. Please follow all posted signage. This schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
