About Orchestra Miami

Founded in 2006 by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi, Orchestra Miami has spent nearly two decades connecting communities through affordable, accessible, high-quality classical music. To date, the orchestra has introduced over 35,000 Miami-Dade County Public School students to classical music through its Carnegie Hall Link Up program and other education initiatives. Orchestra Miami is made up of professional musicians who are all permanent residents of South Florida, performing across a wide variety of venues throughout Miami-Dade County.

About Elaine Rinaldi — Founder & Artistic Director

A Miami native, Elaine Rinaldi returned home to reinvest in her community through music. In addition to leading Orchestra Miami, she is recognized as one of the nation's top vocal coaches, dedicated to training the next generation of opera singers.

About Karen Lord-Powell — Violinist

Karen Lord-Powell is a versatile soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician who teaches violin and orchestral repertoire at the Frost School of Music. A former Principal Second Violin of the Louisville Orchestra, she has performed with the Indianapolis and Houston Symphonies and served as Concertmaster for the New World Symphony and the Miami Bach Society, among others.

About Brian Powell — Bassist

Dr. Brian Powell is a highly regarded performer and educator whose work spans classical performance and string music education. A winner of the Double Bass solo competition at the Aspen Music Festival, he has released acclaimed solo and chamber music albums and numerous publications for double bass. His arrangement of Stravinsky's Suite Italienne for bass solo is published through Boosey & Hawkes.
