Golden Shores Pump Station

The City of Sunny Isles Beach is taking steps to help mitigate flooding throughout the city. Major upgrades to the Golden Shores Pump Station are near completion, with punch list items to be finalized, strengthening our flood protection capabilities. The new station features high-capacity pumps and modern controls that will better equip us to handle heavy rainfall, helping to reduce flooding risks in the Golden Shores neighborhood. The former generator room has been converted into a modern electrical control room, and a new standalone natural gas-powered generator has been installed along the north side of the station.

The City is finalizing the design for bidding of the Central Island Drainage Project. This project will convert 10 existing drainage wells to pressurized wells to improve the storm water capacity of the existing system and better manage flood-prone areas. The project includes improvements to the drainage system to minimize the amount of flooding for the areas north of 174 street to 183 street and Atlantic Avenue to North Bay Road.

Soon our Public Works Department will be adding a new portable pump on 181 Drive. This pump will serve as a temporary solution and will mimic on a small scale what the Central Island Drainage Project will ultimately do in the future. In addition, we have a portable pump already set up on North Bay Road to handle flooding in that area.

Your safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to continuing to invest in infrastructure that safeguards our neighborhoods.
