Sunny Spaces Art Contest
Launched in honor of the City’s 25th anniversary and as part of the Public Art Program, the Sunny Spaces Art Contest was created to highlight the incredible talent within our local arts community. This annual competition gives artists the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Sunny Isles Beach through public art.
In its inaugural year, artists were invited to submit an original hand-drawn or painted piece incorporating the theme of a sun. Twenty-five winning submissions were selected through a blind voting process and are now featured in a permanent art installation at Gateway Center (151 Sunny Isles Blvd). Visitors can experience these works firsthand by strolling through the outdoor breezeway, now known as the Gateway Artway. Additionally, the top pieces from the contest are displayed at various locations throughout the city.
As an annual tradition, the Sunny Spaces Art Contest continues each year. Winning artists are selected and added to the Gateway Artway, further expanding the city’s vibrant public art collection. Their work will be celebrated in April on World Art Day with a special awards ceremony.

4th Annual Sunny Spaces Art Contest
The Sunny Spaces Art Contest is back, inviting artists who live in Sunny Isles Beach to make a lasting impact on their community. In celebration of our 30th Anniversary, we’re seeking the best local artists to showcase their creativity through an original 8” x 8” painting or hand-drawn piece, with no theme this year — just your best work. Only four artworks will be selected to be recreated and featured at the Gateway Artway, the City’s permanent public art installation. Past contest winners are not eligible to win.

The 3rd Annual Art Contest's theme, "Living in Motion," celebrated the vibrant energy and excitement of major sports events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Winter Olympics. From movement to sport to dynamic action, artists beautifully brought this theme to life through their work.

On April 15, 2024, we proudly celebrated World Art Day with the unveiling of the Gateway Artway at Gateway Center, located at 151 Sunny Isles Blvd. This vibrant outdoor gallery showcases the original artwork of talented local artists selected through our Sunny Spaces Art Contest. Each featured piece was thoughtfully created around the theme of a sun, reflecting the creativity and spirit of our community.
The Gateway Artway is a growing installation, with five new winning pieces added each year as part of this ongoing celebration of local art and culture.

The Sunny Spaces Art Quest is a scavenger hunt that will take you on a journey through Sunny Isles Beach to discover hidden artwork. The top five pieces from the Sunny Spaces Art Contest are waiting to be found in various public locations around the city. To uncover their whereabouts, you’ll need to solve a series of riddles!
