The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Six, will host a Public Kick-off Meeting for the SR856/William Lehman Causeway PD&E Study. The limits of this project extend from SR 5/US 1/Biscayne Boulevard to SR A1A/Collins Avenue in Miami-Dade County. The purpose of this project is to accommodate pedestrian and bicycle activity, improve connection between the mainland and coastal non-motorized networks, and improve safety conditions. This meeting is an opportunity to learn about the project, become familiar with the study process, and provide feedback.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FDOT.
The Public Kick-off Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a presentation starting at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held simultaneously in person and virtually.

The in-person meeting will follow an open house format, where attendees can view project information prior to the presentation and speak directly to the project team and provide comments or questions. Virtual participants can view the same project information and presentation and submit comments or questions during the Q&A session.
This letter is being sent to all property owners and tenants located, in whole or in part, within at least 300 feet on either side of the project corridor and to other public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations, and individuals interested in the project.
