Mayor's Mentoring Circle

I’m excited to share an update on the Mayor’s Mentoring Circle, a hands-on program for teens that just wrapped up its latest session. Nine teens completed this free, eight-week program, where they met with me, to gain practical skills for their next steps. The session ends with the school year, and I’m now gearing up for a summer mini session starting in July.
This session, we focused on real-world tools: writing resumes, applying to magnet programs, landing internships, and gaining hands-on work experience. The teens also learned how to find references, communicate professionally with adults, and follow business etiquette.
I brought in successful business and community leaders to share tips, had former mentees talk about their paths, and practiced problem-solving through real-life scenarios. Meeting with this special constituency throughout the school year was fulfilling for me as well.
The upcoming summer mini session will keep the same practical focus and will be limited to eight teens to ensure personalized attention. Parents, to get your teen approved, text me at 917.751.1565. Spots are first-come, first-served, and this program is 100% free.

The Mentoring Circle is about giving teens the tools they need to succeed right now. The summer session will offer more of the same: direct guidance, actionable skills, and a small group setting.
