The City of Sunny Isles Beach’s Building Department is currently in the process of seeking accreditation from the International Accreditation Service, Inc. (IAS). Members of the IAS Assessment Team will be in the City from November 3 – 6 conducting a comprehensive assessment to determine if the department’s goals, policies, and procedures for permitting, plan review, inspections, and property maintenance are in line with the required standards. This assessment will consist of a tour of the facility, stakeholder interviews, document reviews, technical observations of inspectors and plans examiners, and the final report preparation and presentation.
Achieving accreditation offers a variety of benefits for the Building Department. It provides independent, third-party validation of the department's competence and commitment to quality, can help streamline daily operations, and confirms the implementation and maintenance of the industry’s best practices to uphold the highest standards of building safety.
